Some Pointers before exploring the island is taking care of your survival, 
To do that, it's important to make sure you have the materials needed for them.
Here's some tips how to do them:

1. Interact and search for the question marks
It's showing the stuff that you need to have.
And don't try to gather resources without any tools, your hands will be hurt if you think this is minecraft.
Press Z on keyboard or A button on xbox joystick near the object to interact with them.

2. Try to gather everything that's have differences about them.
In this case, glowing objects is resources you can interact to get some items for many things.
Building, eating, and crafting is one of them.

3. Logging
If you have an axe, you can try getting wood from trees, 
Don't worry about exhausting it, they will regenerate in a few days.

4. Mining
Every guys love to have ores as materials, so pick your pickaxe and plunge it so it shatters to many stone shards you can try to pick.

5. Fainted
Don't be eager to do everything at once though,
Once you exhausted your stamina and health you will be fainted and loss a day worth of time.
